The schools and students of the San Bernardino City Unified School District are making progress toward complete academic success.
At this time last year, 563 District high school seniors still needed to pass one or both portions of the California High School Exit Exam (CaHSEE). This year, only 464 seniors have not yet passed the exam. That means that 99 more seniors passed the CaHSEE by the end of first semester this year compared to last year. Additionally, 212 of those who have not yet passed are eligible for special education exemptions, leaving only 252 seniors who must still pass the exam to graduate.
The CaHSEE is a standardized test that all public school students must pass to earn a high school diploma. The exam tests high school students' knowledge of English and math skills. District students must pass both portions of the exam and meet all District graduation requirements to earn a diploma. Some special education students may be eligible for test accommodations or exemptions based on their Individual Education Plan.
